About Tim Becker of Creative Images Photography
Like so many professional photographers, Tim became interested in
photography in high school.
Back in the 1960s, Tri-X film was the main choice, and the black and white darkroom was a fascinating place. Tim was always amazed watching a print appear in a tray on a blank sheet of paper.
Education
Tim went on to major in photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology and received a BS degree in 1974. He learned to mix developer from raw chemicals and studied graphs of highlights and shadows. Although some of this isn’t relevant today, Tim still draws on the knowledge he gained about lighting, composition and color.
Early experience
During and right after college, Tim worked as a photojournalist for two newspapers in Connecticut. Even today, he incorporates that journalistic style into his work. He then spent a few years as a studio assistant, shooting products for catalogs.
His own studio
In 1978, Tim opened his own commercial studio: Creative Images Photography. Now located in Woodland Industrial Park, Tim’s professional studio has 1600 square feet of space. It’s ideal for portraits and, with its roll-up door, for large still-life product shots, too. Tim has full digital capabilities (and can shoot with film, too, if needed) and always works hard to give his clients the best possible value. Tim’s pricing is competitive and he always welcomes the opportunity to provide a detailed estimate on a project.
Tim’s work ethic
Tim prides himself on quality customer service, enthusiasm for the client’s project, and a positive attitude. He says, “Even after all these years, I still get excited about a new photo assignment! Sometimes lighting, weather and my client’s needs don’t match with a 9 to 5 schedule, so I often work nights, weekends, and early hours. I’ve photographed in underground tunnels, steel foundries with sparks flying, and from the roofs of tall skyscrapers—whatever it takes to get the job done.”
Other interests…
Tim likes to be involved in local government, and he’s currently a Registrar of Voters for his town. He’s been a member of the local Lion’s Club for 30 years, and has also served as its President. They help people with sight impairments, and that’s important work.
When he’s not shooting photos or doing community work, Tim might be found tinkering with his 1971 MG convertible sports car.
